Alan Russell Parker, age 82, passed away on July 23, 2024, in Lakeland Florida. He was born on March 3, 1942, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire to Allen Ordway and Faith Hill Parker. He moved to Groveland, Massachusetts when he was a young child and lived there until he went into the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He served 3 tours, and he was also stationed on the USS Canberra. During his enlistment he was awarded The Vietnam Service Medal and 3 Bronze Stars. While he was in the Navy, he learned skills for his next career remove, which would be for the next 35 years at Harvard University as a machinist in their maintenance department.
Alan was a very talented man. He enjoyed working with wood and making inlay pictures, refinishing furniture, and he also rebuilt a camp all by himself from the basement, up to the roof. He was an adventurous kind of guy from sailing when he was younger to traveling to places, he had never been before. One of his favorite places to travel was Spain, where he loved the food. Alan was a great cook as well. He liked to make many dishes, ones he had never tried before and Allen was good at it. When Alan married Jean, he gained 6 children, 15 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren to love. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Yvette and siblings, Thomas William and Joan Elaine.
Alan is survived by his wife of 3 years. Jean Parker, 4 children, Amy Parker (John) Vicki Procopio Parker (Sal), Monica Moran (Mike), Valerie Woodfall (David); 5 grandchildren, Brianna, Michael, Megan, Alana, and Sean; 2 siblings Dee Bruni, Kevin Bryan (Joy) and 6 stepchildren, Joela Myers (Robert), Cameron Woods (Missy), David Woods (Diane), Melanie Freeman (David), Deborah Baker, (David) and Tammy Foreman (Glenn).
