A Celebration to honor Wendell’s life will be held on November 8, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Cleveland Heights Baptist Church in Lakeland.
Wendell Lee Harris, a beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 7, 2025, in his hometown of Lakeland, Florida. Born on May 24, 1966, Wendell brought joy and laughter to all who knew him during his remarkable 59 years of life.
Wendell was the cherished son of Franklin and Priscilla Harris, who preceded him in death. He is survived by his loving brother, Franklin Harris Jr., and his devoted sister, Debora Harris. Wendell was a proud uncle to his nephews, Dillion Maxwell and Tyler Harris, and his nieces, Audrey Burton, Taylor Harris, and Emily Cowan. He also held a special place in his heart for his great nephews, John Harris, Asher Naylor, and Grayson Burton, as well as his great nieces, Luna and Zora Harris.
Wendell was a man of many interests and passions. He had a profound love for the great outdoors, which was evident in his hobbies that included fishing, hunting, and even catching snakes. His adventurous spirit and deep appreciation for nature were a testament to his vibrant personality. Wendell also had a talent for woodworking; he worked as a cabinet maker for over 15 years, where he took great pride in crafting beautiful pieces and honing his skills with wood.
Those who knew Wendell described him as a funny guy with a good sense of humor and a kind heart. He had an infectious laugh that could light up a room and a gentle spirit that made everyone feel welcomed. His friendships and kindness left an indelible mark on the lives of many, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
The community was fortunate to have Wendell as a part of it, and while he did not belong to any formal organizations, his contributions were felt through his genuine interactions with those around him. Wendell’s love for life and his unwavering kindness made him a cherished figure in the hearts of his friends and family.
A funeral service to honor Wendell’s life will be held on November 8, 2025, at 10:30 AM at Cleveland Heights Baptist Church. Friends and family are invited to come together to celebrate the life of a truly remarkable man who brought joy and laughter to the world.
