A Memorial and Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at The Lakes Church Chapel, 1010 E Memorial Blvd, Lakeland, Florida 33801. Family will receive friends at 10:00 AM, with the service beginning at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to an organization supporting foster children, a cause Shirley held close to her heart.
Shirley Jean Gibbons, 64, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on December 15, 2024, at Lakeland Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 18, 1960, in Bartow, Florida, Shirley was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and friend whose life was defined by her deep love for others. She is survived by her cherished husband of over 36 years, Jeff Gibbons, and their two beloved children, Jacob and Caylee Gibbons, as well as her sister, Diane Boully, brother, Tommy Nix, and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Monett Noonan, and several siblings.
Shirley had a remarkable career, beginning with over 20 years at Time Warner Communications, before shifting her focus to her family. Later, she pursued her passion for beauty and wellness, becoming a skilled esthetician and a certified Pilates instructor, helping others achieve health and confidence. Shirley’s ability to connect with people and inspire them, whether through beauty treatments or fitness, was a gift she shared with all who knew her. Her infectious smile and warm presence could light up any room, and she had an extraordinary ability to make everyone around her feel special. Beyond her professional life, Shirley was a devoted servant of her community and church. Her heart for others was evident in the way she connected with people, shared the word of Jesus, and offered steadfast support to those in need.
