Sarah Turner

Sarah Turner, a cherished and beloved member of her community, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born on September 7, 1935, in Beatrice, Nebraska, Sarah was the daughter of Karl and Phyllis Oeltjen. She grew up with a rich tapestry of family values that she carried with her throughout her life. Sarah’s journey into adulthood began with her graduation from Lincoln High School in Lincoln, Nebraska. She embarked on a fulfilling career as a cashier at Hinky Dinky, where her dedication and warm personality earned her numerous awards over her 20-year tenure. Her work was not only a profession but a testament to her commitment and connection to her community.

In 1955, Sarah married the love of her life, Robert Turner, with whom she shared 55 beautiful years. Together, they raised two sons and adopted their only daughter, Sarah, extending their love to many as foster parents. Their home was a haven of warmth and kindness, always open to children in need of love and support. Sarah’s life was enriched by her love for puzzles, reading, and traveling to various countries with her family. She cherished the simple joys of bowling with her daughter and found deep solace in her faith, reading the Bible and praying daily. Her membership in the Eastern Star Association was a reflection of her dedication to community service and fellowship.

Beyond her accomplishments and activities, Sarah will be remembered for her boundless love, gentle spirit, and unwavering faith. She was the epitome of a devoted wife, loving mother, nurturing grandmother, and doting great-grandmother. Her love for children and babies was a hallmark of her character, and her nurturing spirit touched countless lives. Sarah Turner’s legacy of love, kindness, and faith will continue to inspire all who were fortunate to know her. She will be dearly missed, but her spirit will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.

Sarah was predeceased by her parents, her devoted husband Robert, her son Robert Daniel, her sister Nancie Thomas, and her grandson Anthony Jones. She leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion through her surviving children: son Michael Turner of Minnesota and daughter Sarah Turner of Florida. Her twin granddaughters, Jennifer Redig and Jessica Jones, along with her great-grandchildren Zachary Jones, Daniel Redig, Ethan Chapman, and Brianna Redig, were the lights of her life. She is also survived by her niece Tami McLaughlin (Jon) of Idaho, great-nieces Mary Riedl, Elizabeth Churchill, Kelly Dalka, nephew Dierk Reynolds, and many cherished cousins, including Kathy Stastny and Nancy.
A celebration of Sarah’s life will be held on October 29, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home in Lincoln, Nebraska. Her family invites all who knew her to join in honoring her memory and celebrating the remarkable life she led.
