Ruby Eileen Bednarz, 96
Florida Highway Patrol
AUBURNDALE – Mrs. Ruby Eileen Bednarz passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 10, 2022. Her life
ended the way she loved to live it, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 27, 1925, in Talbot, IN. She was a 1942 graduate of Ambia High School and attended business school after her graduation. Her first job was at the age of 16 operating the blueprinting machine for a drafting department that designed parts for tanks. Throughout the years, she worked many other jobs (often two at a time) to help support herself and her family. Prior to her retirement, she was clerk to the Troop C captain and lieutenant/investigator with the Florida Highway Patrol in Lakeland, FL.
Ruby loved reading, particularly about history. She could often be found watching her favorite History Channel shows or looking up her family genealogy. She was a lifelong Cubs fan (give or take a few seasons) and was thrilled that she finally got to see them win the World Series in 2016. Her wit was sharp and would often come out of nowhere, which made it even more endearing to those around her. Her favorite pastime was being involved in the lives of her grandchildren. Whether it was attending a piano or dance recital, cheering at a softball game, or just being there for all the important moments, she gave her time, her warmth, and her love.
Ruby was preceded in death by her husband Henry, son Thom, daughter-in-law Diane, parents Harvey
and Alta, and all 12 of her siblings. She is survived by her son Jerry (Kathy), daughter Lisa (Chris), six
grandchildren, and several great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Ruby’s life will be held at a later date.
