It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Rodney Coy Jamison, beloved husband, father, teacher, coach and friend. Born in Weston, WV on March 10, 1945, Rodney lived a life dedicated to education, sports, and family. He graduated from Glenville State College (1969) and served as a teacher for the next 4 decades. He was the loving husband of Sue Jamison (married 1973) and a proud father to his children, William and Rhonda. Rodney cherished his role as a grandfather “Pops” and will be deeply missed by his family and friends. Rodney’s passion for teaching and coaching shaped the lives of countless students and athletes over his remarkable 53-year coaching career. He coached at ten high schools (7 in Polk County), as well as two colleges; Glenville HS (WV), Martinsburg HS (WV), Fort Meade HS, George Jenkins HS, Kathleen HS, Frostproof HS, Lake Wales HS, Mulberry HS, Auburndale HS, Cape Coral HS, Webber International University, and Glenville State College. Rodney’s legacy will live on through his family, his friends, and his former student athletes. He believed in the potential of others and worked tirelessly to help the achieve it.
Rodney is survived by his wife, Sue, his children, William (Wendie) and Rhonda (Matt), sisters-in-law Wilma Jamison and Delores Jamison. Niece, Christine Schimmel, nephew Ronald Jamison Jr. grandchildren Ember, Joshwa, and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his mother (Rosa) and father (Coy), and brothers John and Ronald Sr.
