R.C. Horton

November 18, 1926 - August 28, 2022

Rev. R.C. Horton went home to be with Jesus, early Sunday morning August 28, 2022. He was born November 19, 1926 to Louella and Morgan Horton.  He is the eighth child born of thirteen children. R.C. was called into the ministry in 1952 and pastored three churches in the Church of God during his 45 years of ministry. He was an accomplished carpenter, remodeling 3 churches and built Sonrise Cathedral, where he pastored for 33 years. Many souls were saved during his ministry and added to the church. His one desire was to point others to Jesus and His saving grace. He was preceded in death by his parents, siblings, Anne, Roy, Jack, Howard, Robert, Dorothy, Mattie Lou, and son in law, Don Sechrest. Left to cherish his memory is the love of his life for 73 years, wife, Thelma Ruth Horton, Children, Randy (Madelene) Horton, Ronnie (Laura) Horton, Rita Ready (Ron) and Robin Sechrest. Grandchildren, Rhea (Buck) Marshall of Cleveland, TN, Rebekah (Aaron) Franklin, Cleveland, Ryan (Ida) Horton, Lakeland Reannah Horton, Lakeland, Cara (Jason)Rogers, Cleveland, TN, Craig (Rachel) Ready, Charlotte, NC, Darla (Ty) Pettaway, Lakeland, Dayna Sechrest, Dylan Sechrest (fiancé-Julia Jenke). Great grandchildren, Caroline and Jonathan Marshall, Landon, Dalton, Ava, Hannah Kate and Israel Franklin, Zion and Zeal Horton, Lillian Rogers, Alexander and Evelyn Ready, Taytum and Trenton Pettaway.
