On Friday, June 17, 2022, Prem P. Bakhshi Sr., husband, father, and “papa,” passed away at the age of 84. Prem was born on August 23, 1937, in Multan, Pakistan to the late Shri Gobind Ram Bakhshi and the late Bhagwanti Bakhshi. After arriving to the United States, he received his degree from Florida State University and was most well known professionally for his work in food services at the Polk County Sheriff’s Department, followed by a career change to a Patient Care Tech in the CIU at Lakeland Regional Health, from where he retired.
In his past, Prem was involved as a deacon in the Disciples of Christ church and also dedicated himself as a part of the Lions Club. Later, following his retirement, Prem kept busy with household projects, including mowing his own yard up until one month before his passing.. He also enjoyed cooking and was often found in the kitchen preparing curried chicken and Indian parathas for his children and grandchildren. A part-time mobile notary business kept Prem active in the community. For leisure, he loved watching football, golf, and most of all, tennis. He was known for his tenacious personality, colorful story-telling, and willingness to dispense advise.
Prem Sr. was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jeremiah Bakhshi, along with his parents and five siblings, and also his son, Prem “Premie” Bakhshi Jr. He leaves behind three children, Tiki Bakhshi, Amanda Camp, and Kayla Boldt (John). He also is survived by his grandchildren, Emma Rose Faircloth, Jon “JP” Camp Jr., and Zane Camp. Prem has cousins and nieces and nephews, along with their families, spanning the United States as well as internationally.

The family will be honoring Prem’s life in a future private manner.
