Millicent Mathilda Bass, (nee Kerr) was born in Cacoon Village, Dias District, Hanover Jamaica, West Indies on March 5, 1927. She was the fourth child and only girl for her parents, Ruben Alexander Kerr and Louise Phillipine Kerr, (nee Lindsay). Mrs. Bass had seven brothers from the union of her parents. William, Charles, Luke, Phillip, and Granville who predeceased her, and Richard and Reginald, who survive her. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Bass was also predeceased by her half siblings, Roberta, John, George, and Louise.
Mrs. Bass migrated to England, to become a nurse and she went to specialize in midwifery. After practicing nursing in England for several years, she migrated to Canada, where she met and married the love of her life, Clarence Stanley Bass, who predeceased her. Mr. Bass was an evangelist and missionary, which allowed them to live in various places spreading the word of God. In 1990, they migrated to Big Sandy, Texas, where Mr. Bass was laid to rest in 1999. Mrs. Bass relocated to Florida but will be reunited with Mr. Bass in Big Sandy, where she will assume her final resting place.
Throughout her life, Mrs. Bass mentored and provided love, succor and encouragement to many, which led her to develop familial relationships akin to that of a beloved grandmother or aunt. They have simply become a part of her very large family. The memory of Mrs. Bass will live on not only with these family members, but also with her friends.
Mrs. Bass transitioned on Sunday, May 8, 2022, at the age of 95. She is no longer in pain and has achieved her final rest with God. Rest in peace and sleep well!
