Mary “Frances” Handley, Age 85, passed away on September 5, 2024, in Lakeland, FL. She was born on March 19, 1939, in Prospect, TN to Aubrey and Ruby Walker. Frances was born under 3 pounds and not expected to survive. Proving she was a fighter from that early age, Frances accomplished all she tackled including raising three children on her own after losing her husband at age 29. She moved to Lakeland in 1969, from Immokalee, Florida. Frances worked as a Central Supply Technician with Lakeland Regional Hospital for over 25 years and she was a member of Family Worship Center in Lakeland. Frances is preceded in death by her husband of 11 years, K D Handley; her parents, sister, Elois Jones; brother, Thomas “Joe” Walker; grandson, Adam Tubbs.
Frances is survived by 2 sons, Terry and Larry Handley and daughter, Janet Tubbs (Michael); 3 brothers, Charles, Julius and Jackie Walker; 5 sisters, Betty Landin, Ella Cheney (Benny), Lurlene Stokes, Mary Harris (Kenneth) and Fay Scott (Marvin); 9 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
