Celebration of Jim’s Life will be on Saturday, August 17 at 11am at St Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Lakeland.
James “Jim” Schmidt, Age 84, passed away on 8/9/2024 in Temple Terrace, FL. Jim was born on 5/17/1940 in St Louis, MO to James and Ethel Schmidt. As a child he moved to Lakeland and resided there throughout his life where he graduated from Lakeland High School. Jim then joined the United States Air Force and served for 4 years. He then met his wife, Penny, in 1976, when they both worked at Maas Brothers. They married on Jan 7, 1977, and together they raised 5 children.
Jim was a baseball fanatic and loved the St Louis Cardinals and loved any sport played by the Florida Gators. He was one of the sweetest, kindest and most generous men you would come across. Jim loved the Lord and he and Penny were members of St Stephen’s Episcopal Church for 45 years. Jim is preceded in death by parents and stepson, James.
Jim is survived by his wife of 47 years, Penny; 4 stepchildren, Christopher (Jennifer), Patsy (Wayne), Howard, and Andrew; 10 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; sister, Gloria and 2 nephews, Steven and Michael.
