Irene Prewitt, 84, of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on August 28, 2023. She was born on December 16, 1938, in Chicago, Illinois to the late Katherine Krumpack and Eldon Engel. Irene was a graduate of St. Clements High School, Class of 1957. After her education, Irene found her soul mate in Kenneth Prewitt and the two were united in marriage on January 31, 1959, marking the beginning of a beautiful and loving journey together. A devoted wife and loving mother, Irene’s life revolved around her family. She poured her heart and soul into creating a warm and nurturing home for her husband and children. Her unwavering love, kindness, and selflessness were a testament to her character, leaving an indelible mark on all who were fortunate to know her. Irene’s passing comes after the loss of her beloved husband, Kenneth Prewitt in 1995. She was also preceded in death by her mother, Katherine and Joseph Krumpack, her father, Eldon and Leona Engel; In Laws Francis and Marilyn Kohn, Reggie and Delores Williams, and Don Prewitt; niece Kim Zolna; nephews, Fran Kohn and Richard Williams; George and Florence Prewitt. While Irene’s presence will be greatly missed, her memory will live on through the cherished moments she shared with her family and friends.
Irene is survived by her children: Kenneth Prewitt (Suzanne), Carrie Prewitt, Ron Prewitt (Michelle), Richard Prewitt (Jolyn), Russell Prewitt (Clemencia); Grandchildren, Kara Prewitt, Sarah Prewitt, Christina Prewitt, Brandi Pacquer (Larry), Katherine Martinez (Nick), Mathew Hyde (Anna), Kenneth Prewitt, PJ Prewitt (Olga), Alex Prewitt (Jenny), Tyler Prewitt (Nicole), Kaylee McCoy, Justin White, Katelyn Kovac Bybee (Justin), Alaynna Kovac, Carrie Prewitt, Christopher Prewitt, Ashley Brewer, Taylor Bolena (Jacob), Gina Torres (Marcos), and 16 Great Grandchildren; Sister, Joan Krumpack and Brother, Joseph Krumpack
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to all those who have shown their love and support during this difficult time. Irene’s legacy of love, compassion, and strength will forever be remembered and treasured by those who were fortunate to have her in their lives.
