Donald Larry Mayhew
July 22, 1939 - December 1, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Larry Mayhew, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, who left this world on December 1, 2025, at the age of 86. Born on July 22, 1939, in Welch, West Virginia, Donald exemplified the essence of family and love throughout his life.
Donald was the cherished son of Oscar and Effie Mayhew, who nurtured his kind spirit and quiet demeanor. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, a daughter, Ladonna Weatherford, and a grandson, Trenton James Reeves. Their memories will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
Donald is survived by his devoted wife, Bonnie Mayhew, and his three children, Rhonda Thomas, Sondra Raymond, and Donald Mayhew Jr. His family grew with the addition of step-sons Tim Reeves, Jim Reeves, and Ken Reeves, as well as fifteen grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. He adored each of them, always finding joy in their accomplishments and everyday moments.
A man of many interests, Donald had a particular love for Disney, which he shared with his family. His career as a ride inspector at Disney was one of pride, where he had the unique opportunity to work on iconic attractions such as Space Mountain, Test Track, and the Tower of Terror. Donald’s passion for travel was evident in his adventures with Bonnie, where the Smoky Mountains and Blue Ridge Mountains held a special place in their hearts. He found peace and happiness driving his sports cars.
As we bid farewell to a man who brought so much joy to those around him, we find comfort in knowing that Donald’s legacy of love, family, and adventure will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know him. Rest in peace, Donald Larry Mayhew. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
