David Frank Vrbensky
July 19, 2021
David Frank Vrbensky, a Husband, a Father, a Grandfather, a Brother (these are his favorite accomplishments), left us on Monday, July 19, 2021.
He started his adventure in Fenton, MI as the baby in the family to John J Vrbensky and Vera Vrbensky who preceded him in death. His older siblings are John Vrbensky, Donna Parker and Tom Vrbensky (deceased). Being the youngest allowed him freedom. At an early age, he developed an adventurous spirit, and a zest for life that he has passed on to his family. He was well traveled and circled the globe twice, compliments of the U.S. Navy, through two tours on the USS America. Although he loved his Country and the Navy, he loved his wife, Kathryn Elaine Vrbensky more, and retired as soon as he could. However, he maintained his Wanderlust and moved his family across this country, including stops in Arizona, California, Louisiana, and Florida.
He was married to Kathryn, the love of his life, for 53 wonderful years, with whom they had three children Gretchen Julius and Jamie Vrbensky of Lakeland and Jason Vrbensky of Saint Johns. He taught them all he could about being a loving parent and putting your family first. He taught them to be independent and how to fix virtually anything in the house, which was good, because his children broke virtually everything in the house. However, he did not teach them anything about golf or fishing, as those are the two only things in life he did not enjoy at all. He took great pride in his grandchildren, Emily Julius, Alexander Julius, Jonathan Julius, William Vrbensky and Emma Vrbensky, to whom, he was Pappa. His favorite moments were spent with his grandchildren, whether it was reveling in their accomplishments, helping with shop projects to expand their creativity, answering fifty questions, listening to concerts, watching recitals, or cheering on kindergarten soccer games with the excitement of a World Cup match.
He suffered the Vrbensky curse up until the moment he passed, he got better looking every day. David lived his life with an infectious smile on his face and twinkle in his blue eyes. He had the kindest of hearts and a gentle soul. He made friends wherever he went and left them with stories they remember to this day.
He hated the idea of a funeral and said he should just be laid in the back yard by Spotty, his beloved dog of 18 years that he stole from his kids. He always taught his family the Vrbensky family tradition, that each person is guaranteed three parties in their life. The day they were born, the day they were married, and then the last, when they moved on. The family will honor his wishes, with the exception of being laid to rest next to the dog, and will give him his last party, a celebration of his life, for which we will provide details soon.
