Bonnie E. Mayhew, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2025, at the age of 81. She was born on February 17, 1944, in Detroit, Michigan, to her loving parents, Alexander Moore and Catherine Laburn Moore. Bonnie’s journey through life was marked by deep love for her family, a passion for travel, and a commitment to her community.
Bonnie’s life was a testament to the strength of family ties. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Ray Reeves, her second husband Donald Mayhew, her grandson Trenton Reeves, and her stepdaughter Ladonna Weatherford. Despite these losses, Bonnie’s spirit of love and resilience shone brightly through her children, Tim Reeves (Abbie), Jim Reeves (Patty), and Ken Reeves (Teresa), as well as her 15 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren who will carry her memory forward. She is also survived by her stepchildren, Rhonda Thomas, Sondra Raymond, and Donald Mayhew Jr.
Bonnie was a woman of many passions. She loved to travel, and her adventures took her to Scotland multiple times, where she explored her roots. She was also fortunate enough to visit Ireland, Germany, the Netherlands, England, and Belgium, enriching her life with diverse cultures. Her love for the great outdoors was evident in her travels across the United States, where she cherished visits to national parks from coast to coast.
Bonnie was known for her incredible culinary skills. She had a special talent for cooking and baking, often delighting her family with her renowned peanut butter balls, which became a cherished treat at family gatherings. Her home was a warm and welcoming space where family and friends gathered to enjoy her delicious meals and share stories. She was also a business owner in the community, co owning Associated TV Service for many years here in Lakeland.
Bonnie was also deeply engaged in her community. She was an active member of the Kathleen Historical Society, where she contributed her time and energy to preserving local history and fostering community spirit. Her love for history was matched only by her love for her family, as she dedicated herself to creating lasting memories with her loved ones.
Bonnie E. Mayhew will be remembered not only for her adventurous spirit and culinary talents but also for her unwavering love for her family and community. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire all who knew her. May she rest in peace, knowing she was deeply cherished and will be profoundly missed.
