Bernadette Geerhart Donato, born May 8, 1937, in Paterson, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at her home in Valrico, Florida, on August 3, 2026.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, John Donato; her newborn son, Robert Koehler; and her precious granddaughter, Rebecca Adams.
Bernadette’s greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother to her five children, Bernadette Mobley, Lynne (Les) Adams, Robin (Mike) Orr, Steven Koehler, and Jo Ann (Terry) Enget, whom she loved more than life itself. She was also a loving stepmother to Ken (Carolyn) Donato, Deb Donato Schander, and Doug Donato. She cherished her sister Mary Castro. Mary was among the relationships she held closest to her heart.
She was incredibly proud of her many grandchildren and never missed a chance to tell them how much she loved them. It thrilled her heart to visit, send birthday cards or gifts, and to keep a connection always.

Bernadette’s faith in Jesus was at the very heart of her life. Although she endured profound tragedy at times in her life, she never wavered in her belief and love for Jesus. She had a generous and giving spirit, always willing to make herself available to anyone who needed her.
Bernadette enjoyed life to the fullest, whether it was time at the beach, attending or hosting family events, traveling all over the world, or simply doing arts and crafts at home.
She leaves behind a family that will carry her love and memory with them always. Her life was a testament to the power of Faith and Family.
