Our dear mother Annamma Philip (Thankamma) was born in Kumbazha in the state of Kerala, India on August 19th, 1933. She was born to K.P Varghese and Annamma Varghese and belongs to the family of Plavelil Ayrookuzhiyil. She was the 3rd child in a family of 8 children which included: late Retired Captain K.V Philip, late Kuruvilla Varghese, P.V Varghese, P.V Rajan, Late Aleyamma John, Late Marykutty Pappachan and Saramma Rajan. She accepted Jesus Christ as her personal savior in 1943 and was baptized in 1946. She married Thomas Philip (Muttathu House, Mylapra) in 1949. God blessed her with 5 children Annamma Johnson (Dallas, TX), Raju Philip (Lakeland, FL), Varghese Philip (Zephyrhills, FL), James Philip (Sterling Heights, MI) and Jolly Chacko (Oklahoma) whom she raised in the ways of God. She was also blessed with 3 daughter in laws (Leelamma, Joyce and Grace), 2 son in laws (James Johnson and Koruth Chacko), 4 grandsons, 10 grand daughters and 20 great grandchildren.
She was an active member of the Salem Brethren Assembly in Mylapra until 1984 when she migrated to the US. She was an active member of the India Gospel Assembly of Detroit until 2006 at which time they moved to Lakeland Florida. After she moved to Florida, she had a desire to have a brethren assembly in the area. Initially, what started as a prayer group evolved into a small assembly of believers in October 2006. In 2009, the believers were able to purchase an assembly hall and continue to worship there to this day.
She remained a devout and committed follower of Christ all her life. She cherished spending time with the word of God, in prayer and singing songs. Her legacy will live on through all of us. Let us remember the past with gratitude, live the present with enthusiasm, and look forward to the future with confidence.
