Wanda’s Celebration of Life luncheon on April 5th at 1:00pm at 4260 Olinger Farm Road Lakeland, Fl 33810
Wanda Rozell Thompson, 68 years old, lost her four-year battle with lung cancer on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, surrounded by her family in Lakeland, Florida. Wanda was born in Plant City, Florida on February 5, 1957. Upon completing high school, Wanda started her family and dedicated her life to raising her kids and working in the flooring industry beside her husband. Her favorite past times included drinking coffee at the dining room table during all hours of the day and sometimes night, watching old westerns, Dirty Dancing or Law and Order SVU and always frying up some delicious southern dish in the kitchen. Wanda was known for her very strong personality and lack of ability to hold back her opinion whether you wanted to hear it or not. Everyone always knew where they stood with her and even though she was only 4’9” tall and weighing in at around 115 pounds, she was a force to be reckoned with and many were too afraid to try. She was a very strong, brave and fierce woman, who is going to be missed dearly.
Wanda is survived by her sister Brenda Lemley, brother in-laws Garry Lemley and Dan Lewis, sister in-law Ann Thompson, her 4 children Danny Ray Monroe, Jamie Monroe, Ila McBride, and Sam Brown, her 9 grandchildren Josh Monroe, Leland Monroe, Trent McBride, Blake McBride, Jackson Monroe, Maximus McBride, Easton McBride, Harrison Monroe & Sawyer Brown, her many nieces and nephews, and her dog Buddy. She is preceded in death by her father Aaron Alonzo Thompson, her mother
Wilma Wall Thompson, brother Rickey Thompson, sister Annette Lewis, brother Troy Thompson and sister in-law Regina Thompson, granddaughter Emmalynn Rayne Monroe and her beloved husband of 36 years Samuel Trent Standridge.
Wanda will be cremated, and her ashes will be scattered with her husband. The family will be having a Celebration of Life Luncheon, but the date and time have not been determined at this time. They would also like to express their deepest appreciation and gratitude for the expressions of sympathy, love and kindness that have been bestowed upon them during this difficult time.
