James "Jimmy" Brown Minnis

James Brown Minnis 72 of Lakeland, Fl died on August 27, 2024, in Lakeland, Florida. He was born in Hillsborough, North Carolina in 1951 to James Minnis Sr and Francis Moore. Jimmy graduated high school and sometime after joined the United States Marines. After leaving the service, he went on to do construction for many years. After retiring you could find him doing odd jobs as a handyman.
Jimmy was a jack of all trades, a true Mr. Fix It. His passion was turning junk into treasure. He was a kind soul and incredibly selfless. He would give the shirt off his back to help someone in need. He appreciated meaningful greeting cards and kept them all. He loved his friends and family more than anything. He will be missed but his legacy will live on through his loving nature and many lessons passed on to anyone that was willing to learn.
Jimmy was preceded in death by his wife, Shawn Minnis; mother, Francis Moore; father, James Minnis Sr; stepfather, CV Moore; sister, Frankie Brodhead. He is survived by his son, James Colt Minnis (wife Alycia); grandson, Brody Minnis; sisters, Faye Stephens, Marie Sturdivant (husband Larry); brother, Bobby Minnis; step sisters, Joan Haynes ( husband Ernie) , Billie Delaney (husband Mike), Janis Moore and step brother, John Moore .
