Arthur George Hooper, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on March 12, 2025, at the age of 82. Born in Wilmington, Delaware on October 13, 1942, to William Hooper and May Waddington, Arthur lived a life marked by unwavering dedication, intellectual curiosity, and a deep commitment to his family and community.
Arthur’s distinguished career spanned several decades and multiple states. He began his professional journey at the Wilmington Savings Fund Society in Wilmington, Delaware (1961-1984), before moving to John Hanson Federal Savings Bank in Beltsville, Maryland (1984-1993). His adventurous spirit led him and his wife, Barbara Niblett Hooper, whom he married in 1979, to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he worked for Riyad Bank (1993-1998). Returning to the United States, Arthur held positions at Advantage Federal Credit Union in Washington, D.C. (1998-2003) and Magnify Credit Union in Mulberry, Florida (2003-2019), ultimately concluding his career at Pentagon Federal Credit Union in Vienna, Virginia, where he remained until his passing.
A dedicated student throughout his life, Arthur earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Technology from the University of Delaware in 1971 and a Master of Science in Finance from the University of Texas in 1990. He further enhanced his expertise through the completion of credits toward an accounting degree at Goldey Beacom College and numerous continuing education courses in Information Technology and Management from institutions such as IBM, Unisys, FISERV, CUNA Mutual, and Fairfield University. His professional life was a testament to his abilities as an achiever, leader, developer, and communicator.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Arthur was a man of diverse interests and passions. He enjoyed horse racing, followed University of Texas football and basketball with unwavering enthusiasm, and cultivated an extensive personal library, reflecting his love of reading. His generous spirit and unwavering kindness made him a beloved humanitarian who touched the lives of countless individuals. He was a devoted member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church and later Saint Stephen’s Episcopal Church in Lakeland, Florida.
Arthur is survived by his wife, Barbara; his son, Chad Hooper; his son, Richard Parker; and his three grandchildren, Meredith Leigh Parker, John Corbett Parker, Andrew Gavin Parker; friend and business partner of 37 years, John Santarpia. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
