It is with deep sorrow and overflowing love that we announce the passing of Allan John Blankshain, affectionately known as Al, who was called home to be with his Heavenly Father on July 24, 2025, in Mulberry, Florida. He was 64 years old.
Born on October 22, 1960, in Cicero, Illinois, Al was a hardworking and humble man who devoted his life to his family, friends, and faith. A skilled HVAC professional by trade, Al had a gift for building and fixing just about anything. His tool shop was his sanctuary, and he was never happier than when he was tinkering on a project, casting a fishing line, or simply spending time with the people he loved most.
Al carried a quiet but unwavering faith throughout his life, and even more so during the last four and a half years, years marked by incredible struggle, courage, and grace. Despite the immense challenges he faced from Parkinson’s disease, spinal cord damage, neuropathy, and metastatic melanoma, Al remained a rock for his family. He never stopped loving, protecting, or providing for those closest to him.
Al’s strength, humor, and kindness will never be forgotten. He leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion that continues through his family and all who knew him. Before his passing, Al made sure to share a final “I love you” with those dearest to him, a parting gift that will be treasured forever.
He was truly one of the best men we’ve ever known. He fought the good fight with courage, and in the end, he won. We will carry his memory in our hearts always.
