Mike Phillips has dedicated his life to serving families as a funeral director, beginning his career at a young age. Over the years, he worked with both family-owned and corporate funeral homes, developing a deep passion for helping others during their most difficult times. However, one aspect of the profession never sat right with him—asking families to spend their life savings on funeral services.

That concern sparked an idea that quickly grew into a mission: to provide high-quality funeral products and services at affordable prices.

In April 1999, Central Florida Casket Store opened its doors at 2090 East Edgewood Drive in Lakeland, Florida. From the beginning, we offered a wide selection of caskets, including options for beloved pets of all sizes, as well as urns—all at prices 40–60% lower than those typically found at local funeral homes. Our team proudly served families across Florida, and even beyond, by providing reliable delivery wherever needed.

As we continued to serve our community, we were often asked why we didn’t offer complete funeral services at the same affordable rates. Listening to those families, we took the next step.

In October 2000, we expanded our services to include cremations and full-service funerals—always at significantly lower costs than our competitors. Since then, we have continued to grow, offering the same comprehensive services as traditional funeral homes, but with a strong commitment to affordability and transparency.
