Kelly Elizabeth Griffis

December 10, 1963 - February 22, 2024

On February 22, 2024, Kelly Elizabeth Crump Thomas Sweat Griffis departed this world in an explosion of glitter, poppy seeds and rooster feathers. True to form, she went down with her fist in the air after a lengthy battle and cuss fight with Death, who found her to be a stubborn adversary. Kelly was born on December 10, 1963, and the shenanigans started almost immediately. You could bet that there was never a dull moment when Kelly was in the house, whether she was releasing 100 crickets into a classroom, turning the sprinklers on the practicing band on the football field, or perfecting a dramatic entrance and exit. She loved True Crime shows, mystery and romance novels, various recreational drugs and getting her way. She eschewed foods not covered with cheese as well as all low cal beverages. Her somewhat messy life disguised a near genius IQ, a lethal wit, and a serious artistic talent that she shared in various drawings, crafts, stories and schemes. She was preceded in death by her father, and often partner in crime, Kenneth L Crump. Left to mourn her passing are her much adored sons: Kyle Thomas, Christopher Sweat and Nickolas Griffis; her mother Sonja Crump; two sisters: Teresa (Michael) Pack, And Lori Crump; and one brother Kenneth (Jill) L Crump, Jr. Her much beloved friend Candy Culpepper Cummins has always been a shining light in her life.  Her family and friends will celebrate her and all 9 lives she lived to their fullest at a private celebration of life at the end of April.
