Lynn M Adams, 70 of Lakeland, Florida, passed away on October 1, 2020 after a battle with cancer. Lynn was born on November 27th, 1949 to Frances and Ray Adams in Oakland, California. After graduating from St Elizabeth High School in 1967, he signed with the Detroit Tiger baseball organization and attended college in San Jose, California. He met Christine Plank while playing for the Tigers in Lakeland, FL. They wed in 1971 and had a son, Michael Kenneth.
Lynn was a member of the United States Army Reserves attaining the rank of Sergeant. Lynn joined the Lakeland Police Department in 1975. He had various positions at the Police Department including motorcycle officer, a member of the SWAT team, patrol, Field Training Officer, detective, undercover detective and attained the rank of Sergeant. Lynn ended his police career as a Sergeant in the patrol division. Lynn was instrumental in the establishment of the Police Athletic League and continued with PAL until his retirement. Lynn was a charter member of the Polk County FOP Lodge #46, a member of the Masonic Lodge, the First United Methodist Church and of the Elks 1291. After retiring from the Police Department, he worked in Kosovo for DynCorp, Rodda Construction for a couple of years and then the Detroit Tigers in security for a number of years.
Lynn was predeceased by his mother, Frances, his brother, Bobby and his father, Ray. He is survived by his wife, Christine, son Michael, daughter-in-law Victoria, granddaughter Summer, grandson Bradley, granddaughter Keleigh, his sister and brother-in-law Toni and John Koster, his wife’s parents Nancy and Donald Plank, his wife’s sister and husband, Dawn and Tim Sims, his wife’s brother and wife Patrick Plank and Denise Ready, nieces, nephews, cousins and many dear friends.
Due to COVID restrictions, his funeral service will be delayed. An announcement will be provided on Facebook when the date is decided
