Charles E. Mooers, 91, of Haines City, FL, and a longtime resident of Champlain and Plattsburgh, NY, passed August 7, 2022 at his home.
He was born in Houlton, ME August 23, 1930, son of the late Harry E. and Florence Ida (Middleton) Mooers.  He attended Ricker Classic Institute in Houlton, ME and attended Casco Bay College in Portland, ME.
Mr. Mooers was a career Air Force veteran serving over 21 years, obtaining the rank of Master Sergeant.  He served in the Korean conflict in 1951 – 1952.  In 1967 – 1968 he served with the 56th Air Commando Wing in Northern Thailand, in support of the Vietnam war.
Mr. Mooers was very active in several organizations.  He was a past member of the Masonic Lodge in Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia, lifetime member and past commander of American Legion Post 21, Newport, VT.  Also, a past president of Northern Sam’s Club, Champlain, NY.  He was a licensed Ham operator and past member of The Champlain Valley Amateur Radio Club, Plattsburgh, NY, Lifetime member of American Military Retirees Association (AMRA), Plattsburgh, NY and past member of the Korean War Veterans Chapter, Keene, NH.  He also belonged to Royal Palm Village, Veteran’s Committee, Haines City, FL. Following retirement from the Air Force he worked 22 years for F.H. Fenderson, Inc. as a licensed U.S. Customs Broker, and the area manager for New England states.
Mr. Mooers enjoyed traveling across the country in his motor home, playing golf, and being active as a Ham Radio operator and doing genealogy research for his family tree.
Predeceased by the love of his life Doris L. (Schrage) Mooers of 68 years, and brother Edwin and wife Anne Mooers, and twin sisters Maryellen and husband Lewis Emery and Marion Mooers of Maine, adopted sister Sandra Bowers, of NC and adopted brother George Mooers, Portland, ME.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving children, three daughters Colleen Miller, of Wilsonville, OR Dorene Decibus and her husband Robert of Keene, NH, Marlene Lancaster and her husband Royden of Haines City, FL, one son John and his wife (fondly called his favorite daughter-n-law) Teena of Vienna, Austria. Beloved grandchildren, three grandsons Stephen Foster and wife My of Pleasant Hill, IA, Erich Foster and wife Chantelle of Pittsburgh, PA, Roy Lancaster and wife Chelsea of Dannemora, NY, one granddaughter Michelle Lancaster and companion Scott Bumps of Newport, VT. Adored great-grandchildren, two great-grandsons Rowan Foster, Elias Lancaster, five great-granddaughters Juno, Lily, Charlie Foster, Makenna and Rori Rathburn.  Plus, many nieces and nephews, which all were highly thought of.
There will be no calling hours.  A future graveside service with full military honors will be held at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd AV, Bushnell, FL  33513. Gravesite located @ Columbarium 4, Section L Row 6 B46.
