Richard Graham Root, 76, passed away on February 9, 2020 in Lakeland, Fl. Richard’s final days were spent surrounded by his loving family and close friends. Richard was born March 14, 1943 in New Brunswick, Canada where he was adopted by Olin and Elizabeth. He spent time growing up in Ohio and eventually moved to Wellesley, MA.
In 1965, Richard married the love of his life, Martha (Wellesley, MA). Richard and Martha spent a lovely 55 years as husband and wife and raised 3 beautiful daughters; Leslie (John), Sandy, and Jennifer. He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his wife and three daughters. Richard will also be fondly remembered and deeply missed by his four grandchildren, Jason (Lawana), Justin (Rachel), Kayla (Ryan), and Dallas, as well as his three great-grandchildren, Dylan, Penelope, and Jackson.
Richard was known for his generosity, sense of humor, and kind heart. He was also know for his hard work and always willing to lend a helping hand. Richard spent a lot of his years as a truck driver, driving all across the country. He was known by his trucking friends as the “Wooden Nickel” which stuck with him for his lifetime.
Richard was predeceased by his parents, Elizabeth and Olin, sister Sally, and great-grandson Peyton.
