Michael Robert Daniels, longtime resident of Lakeland Florida, won his battle against esophageal cancer by going home to the Lord on Sunday April 7, 2019. He is survived by his Mother, Beth R. Daniels and father Robert A. Daniels of Clermont Florida, siblings Tracy Sylvester of Land O’Lakes, Florida, David Daniels of Riverview, Florida, and Becky Perez of Little Rock, Arkansas, Nieces Arielle, Belle, Olivia, Gwendolyn and nephew Luke.
Michael’s legacy is one of years of service advocating for the needs of the developmentally disabled in central Florida through volunteer fundraising for United Way, Sunrise Community of Central Florida, lobbying state officials in Tallahassee for additional funding for disabled citizen support programs, He was appointed by governor Scott to the statewide Family Care Council. Michael lived in a group home owned and operated by Sunrise Community of Central Florida. He was a leader in advocating for those who had no voice. He saw his physical disabilities as an ability to overcome challenges
Michael could always be recognized by his big smile, an eagerness to help, and a genuine love for family and friends. He loved food, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Florida Gators, Elvis, Disneyworld, music of all kinds, and movies and the details of their origins and production… especially Superman, Star Wars, Star Trek, and any tv show that has been around for more than 40 years!
Goodbye Mike … we will miss you greatly and remember you always.
