Patrick Dale Woodard

December 22, 1954 - March 18, 2022

Patrick Dale Woodard, lifelong Brevard County resident, husband to Sue, Grandpa to grandson, Alex & friend to many was called home on March 18, 2022. Pat knew in his heart when this day came, he will pass through the Pearly Gates, dance with his grandmother, embrace his departed loved ones, friends, & his loving Savior.
Pat’s service to others was a way of life for him. Pat considered it a calling, a responsibility. Pat proudly served the Great Florida Jaycees for two plus decades as a volunteer, mentor & special advisor. It was at a Jaycee function where Pat met his soul mate, his wife Sue. Their love for one another was a special blessing to witness. Together they not only lifted others up, but they also inspired many kids / teenagers who still today refer to Pat & Sue as their extended family. A line in the Jaycee Creed states, “Service to humanity is the best work of life”. Pat lived these words by his daily actions. Special lifelong loving friendships were made through their Jaycee Journey. These friendships are woven together as one heart forever. His leadership, teamwork approach, wit and intelligence has always led the way in his volunteer, professional and private life. However, he is most known for his unwavering principles and integrity which was beyond approach. Pat prided himself on living a faith-based life of honesty, integrity, service, and loyalty. If it was unethical, wrong, hateful you could bet that Pat Woodard did not hesitate to call you out.
Pat worked at the Cape Canaveral Air force station Solid waste facility for four decades. Throughout his career he was highly regarded for his leadership, knowledge, work ethic & grasp of federal laws & regulations. He firmly believed anything worth doing is worth doing right. It’s that type of approach along with Pat’s involvement with the Jaycees that inspired Pat to get into local politics. Pat would often share; we must find solutions to the challenges and stop the finger pointing. In 1999, Pat decided to run for Palm Bay City Council to address the challenges the city was facing. Through a grass roots effort, Pat won his election. Pat steadily, due to his committed leadership, earned the trust and respect from those he served with, along with the citizenry. It was the trust of his citizens which mattered greatly to him. Pat was re-elected without any opposition the following 2 elections. An incredible stamp of approval for a job well done.
After retiring from Cape Canaveral Airforce Station Solid Waste Facility, he was asked and accepted to serve the citizens of Brevard as the Legislative Aide to District 4 Commissioner, Mary Bolin Lewis. After Commissioner Lewis retired from political service, the newly elected Commissioner of District 4 Commissioner Curt Smith asked him to continue his employment of serving the constituents. Pat accepted. He once again served with extreme honor, integrity, and needed results throughout. Pat retired as the District 4 Chief Legislative Aide this past July due to his medical challenges. In honor of Pat’s almost five decades of dedicated, committed and result oriented service to his community, Pat received a Brevard County Resolution on October 12, 2021 for his unwavering dedicated service to others.
Each of us are born & one day we all will die. It’s what we do with that dash in between those dates which truly matter. Pat made that dash extremely special, through his humor, mentorship, integrity, and heart. We are all blessed because of that. We keep Alex, Sue and family in our prayers. There is an Irish quote which states “Death leaves a heartache no one can heal. Love leaves a memory no one can steal” Pat has left a special memory in our hearts that will stay with each of us forever. Rest easy brother you earned it.
